InBody Body Composition Analyser
The InBody body composition analyser provides detailed information about fat, muscle and water levels in under a minute. Your InBody scan data will be completely unique to you and does not use statistics or equations to estimate body composition – your scan will accurately measure; Total skeletal muscle mass Total body fat in kilograms Total body fat percentage Visceral fat Total body water Segmental muscle and fat Bone mineral content Basal metabolic rateYour Scan Is As Unique As You Are
InBody’s patented technology is unique as it scans you for you. InBody is the only BIA device that does not require inputted age and gender data – the results simply speak for themselves and this is what sets us apart from other devices. InBody does not use any assumptions in its assessment and provides results which are extremely precise and as unique as the person standing on them. We request age and gender simply as a means of providing relevant guidelines on your result sheet (these are generally found in a bracket format, next to your actual results). This allows you to compare your results against a broad spectrum average. Simply put, you could change your age and gender on an InBody device and your results will not change as YOU have not changed.
The non-use of any assumptions is what sets InBody’s technology apart from all others and is one of the underpinning reasons why InBody is used in extensive studies and utilised by top sports people, medical institutions, NASA and currently in use in over 70 countries worldwide.
This is a brilliant tip to prove the often claimed preciseness of other devices as when changing age and gender, your scan should not change – when it does, it shows the device is utilising assumptions not actual producing individual assessments. In other brands, the age and gender input is required and will produce results based on averages in a scan which will substantially affect the outcomes. Other devices may also ask for ethnicity and body types which again, should not be required in order to produce a precise scan. Claims are often made that inputting age and gender makes the scan more accurate however this is incorrect.
InBody Uses A Patented 8-Point System Of ThumbPoint & Palm Technology
When measuring impedance through any type of electrode, contact resistance occurs and it is important to control the contact resistance, in order to correctly measure the resistance in the body.
InBody uses a unique method of electrode placement.
The 8-point tactile method separates the current and voltage starting point, thus measurement always begins at a fixed point in the wrists and ankles. This is advantageous as the contact resistance from the skin has been removed. This creates the high precision of reproducing the results that InBody is renowned for, that being said if a person was to get on and off the scan results will be 99% the same.
Measuring Your Body Parts Individually
The technical term for this is Direct Segmental Multi-frequency Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (DSM-BIA). It separately measures the impedance (resistance to alternating electric currents) of the trunk, arms, and legs of our body.
This new measurement concept measures the resistance of the cross point of two flows and takes the resistance values of the arms, legs and the body trunk.
Why is this important?
The human body is composed of five cylinders: the arms, the legs and the trunk. With the technology of the InBody, the trunk is directly measured. The trunk is occupied by various internal organs and its metabolic characteristics are different from the other parts of the body. Although difficult, it is important to precisely and directly measure the trunk, since the trunk has very low resistance compared to the arms and legs.
